Government bodies in three Tonawanda area communities have approved measures to seek state Division of Youth grants that would assist in the development of projects for area youth.
The Tonawanda Town Board and Kenmore Village Board of Trustees this week approved a joint resolution to apply for $450,000 in Division of Youth funds for a new gymnasium at the Mang Community Center, Mang and Wilbur avenues, Kenmore.
The Tonawanda City Council Tuesday authorized Mayor Alice A. Roth to apply to the Division of Youth for $647,453. The funds would go to renovate the Kohler Street Municipal Pool and expand the pool house to accommodate a new youth center.
The Division of Youth has about $9 million available in its 1990-91 budget to help fund various youth-oriented projects statewide.
