TONAWANDA POLICE ASK HELP IDENTIFYING ACCIDENT VICTIM

Town of Tonawanda police today issued a detailed description of an unidentified man killed when he was struck by a truck on Elmwood Avenue near Westchester Boulevard Tuesday night.

The victim, who was about 60 years old, was 5-feet-10 and weighed 201 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, Detective Capt. Robert Rowland said. The victim wore a toupee, a light brown jacket, black pants, a gray zippered sweat shirt with red and blue trim and black running shoes, size 10 1/2 . The man also had a set of General Motors car keys in his pocket and a rope-chain bracelet around his right wrist.

Witnesses told police that the man stepped in front of the southbound vehicle at 9:22 p.m. He was taken to Kenmore Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was not charged.
