Russell J. Baylor, 46, of Heartshorn Road died Tuesday (Dec. 18, 1990) of injuries suffered in a two-car crash early Tuesday in Pavilion.
Baylor was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Harold Mitchell. The crash, involving a car driven by Baylor and a Genesee County sheriff's patrol car, occurred at 3:19 a.m. on Route 20, just west of Cook Road.
Deputy Timothy Weis, 25, was treated for hand and leg injuries and released from Genesee Memorial Hospital, Batavia.
Deputies said Baylor was on his way to work in Manchester, heading east on Route 20, when his car crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the patrol car.
Born in Warsaw, Baylor was employed from 1965 to 1981 at Doehler-Jarvis Co., Batavia. He worked for the past nine years at Falconer Die Casting in Manchester. He moved from the Perry area to Corfu in 1979.
Survivors include his wife, the former Geraldine Hurlburt; a son, Russell Jr.; his parents, Russell E. and Lenora Beagle Baylor of Perry; a brother, Robert of Bliss, and a sister, Sandra James of Perry.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, Lake Street, Perry. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Perry Center.
