Holiday Inns Inc. restored its affiliation with the Holiday Inn Grand Island Resort Conference Center Tuesday after the local hotel completed a series of renovations that were needed to bring it up to the chain's standards.
Holiday Inn officials restored the affiliation after inspecting the hotel on Tuesday, said Chuck Ashford, the hotel's assistant food and beverage director.
Holiday Inns dropped its affiliation with the hotel earlier this fall because the hotel had not completed renovations that the chain required.
Since then, the hotel has completed work on all of the problem areas, which included repaving and relining the parking lot, replacing the sliding glass doors in every room and installing new carpeting in some rooms and hallways, Ashford said.
Regaining the affiliation with Holiday Inn is an important step for the 270-room hotel because it once again will be linked to the chain's national reservation system, which allows travelers to reserve a room by calling a toll-free telephone number.
The hotel's owner, Radomir Matovic, has spent about $2 million to renovate the facility. Ashford said other renovations also are being done.
