WIND DELAYS BALLOON CROSSING

Lack of wind forced British entrepreneur Richard Branson and partner Per Lindstrand to delay their latest attempt to cross the Pacific in a hot air balloon Monday.

The jet stream, a river of fast-moving air that was expected to carry their balloon almost directly from Japan to the U.S. West Coast in about three days, was moving too slowly. They plan to try again in January, Lindstrand said.
