Ning Kam, a highly touted 14-year-old Chinese violinist, will make her American debut at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday with a recital in the chapel of Buffalo Seminary, 205 Bidwell Parkway. Kam lives in Toronto and studies in London at the Yehudi Menuhin School. Her pianist on Wednesday will be Emma Ziskind, and her program will feature the Beethoven Sonata in D, Op. 12 No. 1, plus works of Debussy, Paganini, Gershwin and Bazzini.

Organist Ralph L. Bacha continues to serenade downtown shoppers at Main Place Mall from 6 to 8 p.m. daily through Friday and again from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Paul Ferington will give free Christmas concerts today at 1 p.m. at Salvation Army headquarters, 960 Main St.; Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's School for the Deaf, 2253 Main St., and Wednesday at 1 p.m. in School 84, 462 Grider St.

Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart presents a Christmas concert at 7 tonight featuring Britten's "Ceremony of Carols" and performances by its clarinet ensemble, flute choir, folk group and guitar class.

Marsh Memorial Advent Concert in Dunkirk's First United Presbyterian Church at noon on Wednesday will present the Prellent Quartet of strings from Fredonia High School.

Opus Classics Live will feature the Buffalo Brass Quintet on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Allen Hall, UB South Campus, and simultaneously on WBFO-FM, 88.7. Works of Bach, George M. Cohan and Lowell Shaw will be performed.

The Galliard Brass Quintet gives a Christmas Concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's-Grace Episcopal Church, 51 Colonial Circle. Works of Bach, Beethoven and Bernstein are scheduled, plus a sing-along.

Bass-baritone Chris Vasquez and pianist Barbara Wagner will perform Schumann's song cycle "Liederkreis" plus songs of Britten, Bock, Strouse, Waller and Loewe during a free recital in Nichols School's Boocock Library at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

McKinley High School, 1500 Elmwood Ave., sponsors a concert by the St. Joe's Collegiate Institute Swing Choir and Varsity Glee Club directed by James Deiotte and the LaSallian Singers led by Karen Wieland at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. LaSalle Senior High School annual Christmas Concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, with performances by the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, J.V. Jazz Ensemble, Chorus, Girls Advanced Chorus, Varsity Jazz Ensemble and Flute Ensemble.

Williamsville North High School presents a Festival of Songs on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Performing groups are the Mixed, Girls and Guys Choruses; the Madrigal Singers will serenade at the post-concert reception.

Barbara Wagner, minister of music at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo, will direct the solo quartet of the church choir in a free program of Carols From Around the World, Thursday at 7 p.m., following a 6 o'clock seasonal buffet. Call 885-2136 for reservations for the $11 buffet.

Westminster Presbyterian Church invites the public to a carol sing around the lighted Christmas tree in front of the church, 724 Delaware Ave., at 6 p.m. Friday with Thomas Swan directing carolers and the Galliard Brass Quintet. Bring a flashlight to read the song sheets and enjoy hot cider and cheese afterward.

Festival Chorus directed by Douglas Wendt will sing excerpts from Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Randall Memorial Baptist Church, 6301 Main St., Williamsville. Soloist will be soprano Mildred Staley, alto Joanne Hartman, tenor John Cline and bass Tom Witakowski, with Susan Klotzbach as organist.

Musica Transatlantica will offer a program of Renaissance Christmas music at 8 p.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Rainbow Boulevard at Second Street, Niagara Falls. The four-voice ensemble will present works of Praetorius, Mouton, Spanish vilancicos and English carols.
