NON-RESIDENT POLICE NOT COMMITTED TO CITY

Articles appearing in this column from out-of-state residents remark how friendly the atmosphere in Buffalo is. Evidently, these people haven't ventured to the East Side lately, where 80 shootings have taken place already. With an environment like that, you might as well have Saddam Hussein as your next-door neighbor.

It is too bad city residency requirements are not imposed upon the police. What does a person who lives as far away as the Boston hills care if another St. Valentine's Day massacre occurs? It didn't happen in his back yard.
