I am a voter in the Village of Depew, which is also part of the Town of Cheektowaga.
I read most of the articles in The News concerning the proposed golf course for Cheektowaga in order to make an informed decision.
It was with great interest that I read the article of Dec. 10 concerning the Town Board's decision to further pursue this plan after nearly three-quarters of the town's voting population turned down the proposition to increase funding for it.
Why is this being rammed down our throats? Are the existing golf courses in this area overcrowded? I recall another News article of a few weeks ago telling of job cutbacks and program eliminations in the Town of Cheektowaga's Parks and Recreation Department. How is a new facility that will be expensive to maintain properly going to help the Parks and Recreation Department?
How can the Town of Cheektowaga board look us in the eye and tell us that they have our best interests at heart if they refuse to listen to us?
