County Judge Aldo L. DiFlorio Thursday ordered sentencing Jan. 17 for a Buffalo man accused of fatally shooting a 19-year-old Barker woman who lived with him at the time.
Ralph C. Schaner Jr., 27, now of 20 N. Ogden St., pleaded guilty Thursday to criminally negligent homicide stemming from the April 5 shooting of Tammy Kilpatrick, 19, who shared a mobile home with Schaner at 8691 Lake Road, Barker.
Schaner was indicted on second-degree manslaughter and two counts of criminal weapon possession stemming from the incident in which Ms. Kilpatrick suffered a direct shot to the chest.
At the time, Schaner claimed the shooting was an accident and he was unaware the gun was loaded. Two charges of criminal weapon possession were dismissed Thursday when Schaner pleaded guilty to the reduced charge.
