A funeral service for Jeanette Tindle, 78, a longtime resident of Buffalo, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the George J. Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 2400 Main St. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
Mrs. Tindle died Monday (Dec. 10, 1990) in her home in Pinehurst, N.C., after a long illness.
Born in Batavia, the former Jeanette Underhill came to Buffalo as a child when her father, the late Clayton Underhill, went to work for The Buffalo Evening News in 1914.
A graduate of Bennett High School, Mrs. Tindle attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs before her marriage to the late Frank W. Tindle.
Mrs. Tindle was an "avid golfer and bowler," said her daughter, Claire T. Moeschler, and at one time was chairwoman of both the women's golfers and bowlers groups at Cherry Hill Club in Ridgeway, Ont. She also was a member of the Country Club of Buffalo, the Buffalo Club and the Junior League of Buffalo.
She left Buffalo 15 years ago, moving to Hilton Head, S.C., Mrs. Moeschler said.
In addition to Mrs. Moeschler, survivors include two other daughters, Catharine T. Hopple of Bakersfield, Calif., and Barbara T. Clinger of Ridgewood, N.J.; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
