DALLAS FIRM ACQUIRES FOREST CITY CHAIN

Forest City Auto Parts, a Texas-based retailer of automotive parts and supplies with six outlets on the Niagara Frontier, has been purchased by a Dallas holding company.

The Tyler Corp., which owns several businesses specializing in the casting iron pipe and fittings, announced today it will buy Forest City for between $26 million and $30 million. Forest City's management team, headed by Stanley and Arnold Bellowe, will remain in place.

Forest City operates 51 retail stores in Illinois, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The company focuses on selling mechanical parts to do-it-yourself customers.

For the fiscal year ended March 31, 1990, sales totaled approximately $63 million.
