LANCASTER RECEIVES STROKE THERAPY

Film star Burt Lancaster, who suffered a stroke a week ago, is undergoing physical and speech therapy but is unable to get up from his hospital bed, it was reported Saturday.

Lancaster, 77, Oscar-winning star of more than 70 films, underwent a four-hour emergency operation at Los Alamitos Medical Center after suffering the stroke, which left him weak on his right side.

Members of Lancaster's family are taking turns staying in a room next to the actor, and he remains in stable condition, friends say.
