The Sierra Research Division of LTV Missiles and Electronics Group has received $495,000 through an industrial modernization program run by the U.S. Air Force.

The Cheektowaga company received an award that will fund research for an automated documentation and distribution system that would permit documents and drawings to be distributed without paper. If a practical system is developed, it could save on storage, reproduction costs and control procedures, the company said.

The Industrial Modernization Incentives Program is a joint program between the defense industry and the U.S. Department of Defense that is designed to encourage increased investment by contractors in efficient production equipment and management methods.
