Twelve homes in Dearborn Estates and Nottingham Woods area of Amherst will be held open this weekend in a unique marketing approach by local real estate companies.
Homes will be open Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and again on Sunday from 11 to 1 p.m. (so house-hunters won't miss the Bills game on Sunday).
Realtors from five of the leading real estate companies -- Hunt Real Estate, M.J. Peterson, H. Potter Realtors, RE/MAX Group and Stovroff & Herman -- have banded together to help market their listing in this rare listing event.
These top sales people say the word "recession" is not in their vocabulary and that it is a good time to buy with a wide selection of homes on the market and while interest rates are still attractive.
This mini-home show is designed to make shopping easier for the house-hunters with home styles ranging from colonial to contemporary. The two communities are no strangers to home show traffic as Dearborn Estates and Nottingham Woods were the sites of the NFBA's home show in 1985 and 1987, respectively.
The two subdivisions are adjacent to each other off Hopkins Road, north of Dodge Road. These "new-home neighborhoods" are conveniently located near shopping, schools, hospitals, the university and major transportation route, including easy-traveling to Canada.
The twelve properties that will be held open are one to five years in age and range in price from $169,900 to $259,900. Interior decor and landscaping have a "mature newness."
The realtors have prepared refreshments for the visitors. Gift certificates for dinners at Daffodil's and Fanny's will be raffled, as well as Bart Simpson dolls for the kids.
