Lynette Bubel scored the first five points in overtime for the University at Buffalo as the Royals won their fourth basketball game in their last five starts, 74-66, over Sacred Heart at Fairfield, Conn., Thursday night.
Bubel had 14 points for the game, while Brandy Karhoff, whose two free throws tied the game at 66 with 36 seconds left in regulation, had 10 points, four in overtime. Brooke Smith had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Royals (4-5), while Lorrie Drennen (nine rebounds) and Trish Ryan each had 12 points.
Elsewhere, Kim Kuhn's 32 points keyed Niagara University's 85-77 triumph over Robert Morris of Pittsburgh.
Samantha David had 16 points while Kay Chakar had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Eagles (2-2).
MEN'S BASKETBALL: Hilbert (5-5) routed the visiting Fredonia State junior varsity, 93-72, as Brandon Jones had 18 points, Tom Phillips 17 and Rod Gallagher 14.
Mike Donovan scored 24 for the Blue Devils (0-2).
