FED TOOK NO ACTION ON DOLLAR

The Federal Reserve revealed it took no action to support the dollar during the August-October period, when the U.S. currency fell precipitously and touched new lows in foreign exchange trading.

This was the second consecutive three-month period that the Fed declined to step in to support the dollar. But officials at the nation's central bank stressed Thursday that their inaction should not be interpreted as a sign monetary authorities are unconcerned about the dollar's decline.
