A federal grand jury Thursday indicted former Rochester Police Chief Gordon F. Urlacher on charges of misapplying and embezzling money intended for use in drug investigations.
The Buffalo office of the FBI is continuing a wide-ranging investigation into corruption in the Rochester police force, said U.S. Attorney Dennis C. Vacco.
Urlacher, 47, of Rochester, was arrested Oct. 18 by G. Robert Langford, special agent in charge of the FBI's Buffalo office. The arrest took place in the Rochester mayor's office.
The former police chief is charged with taking for his own use more than $5,000 in Police Department funds in each of the last three years, but Vacco said the investigation has turned up "misappropriations of over $150,000."
