A county grand jury Tuesday indicted four men, including two East Side brothers, in the mugging and intimidation of a Buffalo man two weeks ago.
In the second indictment to result from an East Side crime task force operation, Carlton Cotton, also known as Carlton Leonard, 26, of Sobieski Street, and Don K. Jones, 24, and Willie J. Jones, 22, both of Syracuse, were indicted on robbery counts in a $50 mugging on Jefferson Avenue Nov. 20.
Derrick Leonard, 24, identified by prosecutors as the brother of Carlton Cotton, also was indicted on witness intimidation charges. He allegedly twice warned the 26-year-old victim to drop the charges after his brother was arrested.
Derrick Leonard, of Willert Park, was held in lieu of $6,000 bail after he pleaded innocent before Erie County Judge Timothy J. Drury. Prosecutors sought $25,000 bail.
The East Side unit, created in response to a rash of drug-related shootings and violence, has made more than 50 arrests.
