Westinghouse Electric Corp. announced Monday that 600 employees in its energy systems business unit will lose their jobs at the end of the year.

The company said the reduction involves 300 layoffs and 300 voluntary retirements.

All of the employees affected are in salaried positions and all but 11 work in the Pittsburgh area, where Westinghouse has its headquarters and employs 17,500.
