Mayor Griffin will attend a Dec. 11 community forum to discuss what the city is doing to fight crime on the East Side, Fillmore Council Member David A. Franczyk said today.
Franczyk organized the meeting to address neighborhood concerns about increasing violence and illegal drug use. Joseph V. Schollard, inspections and community revitalization commissioner, also will attend.
"We want people to learn what strategy the city is implementing to put the lid on crime on the East Side," Franczyk said.
The Council member said he has not learned whether two other officials invited, Police Commissioner Ralph V. Degenhart and District Attorney Kevin M. Dillon, will attend.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the third-floor auditorium of the Polish Community Center, 1081 Broadway. The public is invited to attend and ask questions, Franczyk said.
"I want it to be a positive, informational thing and not a screaming, finger-pointing thing," he said.
