Today's story is about one of the hundreds of families that The News Neediest Fund will be able to help with your donations. Each family highlighted has been recommended to The Buffalo News by a United Way agency or other non-profit agencies that serve the poor and homeless.
The News Neediest Fund will distribute all of the items donationed and the tons of food, which will be purchased through the Food Bank with money contributions, to needy families and food pantries that serve the needy.
Cash donations may be mailed to The News Neediest Fun, c/o The Buffalo News, One News Plaza, Buffalo, N.Y. 14240. Toys, new clothes and non-perishable food may be brought to any of the following locations:
The Buffalo News lobby, corner of Washington and Scott streets, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Dec. 23 and until 5 p.m. Christmas Eve. Also, The Buffalo News Niagara County Bureau, 8890 Porter Road, Town of Niagara, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 21.
Erie County clerk's offices: Downtown Auto Bureau, 25 Delaware Ave.; Eastern Auto Bureau, Appletree Mall, Union Road at Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga; Northtown Auto Bureau, Century Plaza, 3131 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, and Orchard Park Auto Bureau, S-3325 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park, all 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. The suburban bureaus also have extended hours one day a week.
National Fuel Consumer Assistance Centers, 455 Main St. at Lafayette Square; 3660 Delaware Ave., Town of Tonawanda; McKinley Mall, 504 McKinley Mall, near the Food Court, Town of Hamburg, and Transitown Plaza, 4311 Transit Road, Clarence, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; Thruway Mall, Harlem Road and Walden Avenue, Cheektowaga, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
Erie County Holding Center, 10 Delaware Ave., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Spectrum office, 14 Baldy Hall, University at Buffalo North Campus, Amherst, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Erie County Sheriff's patrol headquarters, 1 Sheriff's Drive, Chestnut Ridge Park, Town of Orchard Park, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and sheriff's substations in Alden, Angola, Blasdell, Clarence, Colden, Collins, Elma, Grand Island, North Collins and Springville, 3 to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
