Fernando Valenzuela pitched a no-hitter Friday night in a 6-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, giving major league baseball two complete game no-hitters on the same day for the first time since April 22, 1898.

Valenzuela (6-6) got former Dodger Pedro Guerrero to ground into a double play to end the game.

After striking out Vince Coleman to start the ninth, Valenzuela issued his third walk of the game, to Willie McGee on four pitches.

Guerrero then hit into a double play, with second baseman Juan Samuel fielding the ball at second, touching the bag and throwing to first.
