A taxing experience awaits Buffalo residents within the next few days.
It's the city's annual property and sewer tax bill, and the envelope is expected to be lurking within 62,109 mailboxes by Monday.
Tax Assessor Dorothy Lawkowski said most residents should receive the bills Monday, though some may get them today.
Property taxes on homes have increased by 81 cents to $21.43 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, increasing the total property tax bill on a $50,000 house by $40.50. The first six-month installment is due by the end of July, and the second is due Dec. 31.
Ms. Lawkowski said residents will pay $1.59 per $1,000 in assessed valuation for their sewer bills, which is a one-cent drop from last year. The sewer bills have to be paid before the end of September. If they're not, residents will be penalized 1 percent interest per month.
