A Williamsville School District clerk was sentenced Friday to probation and ordered to repay nearly $25,000 he embezzled while treasurer of a school employees association.
State Supreme Court Justice Mario J. Rossetti put David M. Neumeier, 45, on probation for five years and ordered him to repay the Williamsville Association of Clerical Personnel at the rate of $418 a month.
Neumeier pleaded guilty last month to attempted grand larceny for writing a series of checks to himself from funds of the employee group from May 1988 through June 1989, when he was ousted from the non-paying post.
Candace Vogel, chief of the Erie County District Attorney's White Collar Crime Task Force, said Neumeier remains an employee of the school district. No school district funds were stolen, she said.
