State police have accused a woman of using the name of her 6-year-old daughter to establish credit for service with the New York State Electric and Gas Co.

Trooper Richard Kurek said Colette Staut, 29, of 6709 S. Transit Road, was charged Friday afternoon with criminal impersonation and theft of services. She is to appear July 10 in Lockport Town Court.

Kurek said the woman claimed service at her address was secured during a four-month period by her sister, who later left town.

"We found it was the name of her daughter used to secure more than $160 worth of power," he said.
