The popular children's television series "Reading Rainbow," co-produced by WNED-TV in Buffalo, received a daytime Emmy Thursday as the outstanding children's program.

Anthony Buttino, vice president for television at WNED, created the concept and format of the program, which is broadcast nationwide on the Public Broadcasting System.

Buttino and J. Michael Collins, WNED president and chief executive officer, accepted the award in New York City.

"Reading Rainbow" is broadcast on Channel 17 twice daily at 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The other producer is GPN/Nebraska ETV Network.
