STATE AUDIT FAULTS PIKE FOR LACK OF COMPETITIVE BIDS

A failure to show evidence of competitive bidding in the $19,000 contract to improve the Pike Fire Hall highlighted the criticisms leveled by a state auditor who examined the 375-population Wyoming County village's fiscal affairs for 1988-89.

Other criticisms dealt mainly with the absence of records on the village's assets, fund receipts, disbursements and investment policy.
