ANGOLA BOARD IS PREPARING ATTACK ON ZEBRA MUSSELS

The Angola Village Board is prepared to spend between $8,000 and $10,000 for a system to attack zebra mussels at the water treatment plant and to implement safety changes for cleaning the facility's sedimentation tank.

The board has retained the services of Allen Marine Inc. of Buffalo to install a line inside the water intake that will carry chlorine to kill the
mussels.

The top of the sedimentation tank will be removed and a system of catwalks will be installed to allow Water Department personnel to flush out the tanks from the top. Currently employees have to enter the tank in wet suits to clean it.
