As the clerk of a Walden Avenue grocery store opened for business this morning, he was punched in the head by one of two men and robbed of $1,200 of the store's money that he held in his pocket, the owner said.
"He came this morning and he opened the gates and there were two guys waiting for him outside," said Mike Abdallah, owner of Moe's Mini Mart at 59 Walden Ave. "They held him up, two guys. One of them hit him on the head. The other guy reached into his pocket."
The men then jumped into a car and sped away on Walden Avenue, Abdallah said. Police have no suspects in the robbery, which took place just before 9 a.m.
Abdallah said the clerk was not seriously hurt.
