Alexander and Pembroke central school district voters approved 1990-91 school year budgets Wednesday.
In Alexander, a $7,369,850 spending plan was approved, 303-226. William Messenger of Bethany was named to a five-year term on the School Board , beating John Will of Batavia, 258-226. Eric Randall of Darien won a three-year term over four rivals, polling 239 votes. The others were Ronald Merrill of Alexander, 177; Arthur Straub Jr., Alexander, 57; Mark McClellan of Darien, 29, and Robert Murray, Darien, 13.
Voters also approved the purchase of two buses, 324-196, and approved a $1,000 grant to Attica's Stevens Library, 312-203. The new budget is 4.9 percent higher than the current outlay and will increase the tax rate 6.4 percent.
In Pembroke a $9 million budget was approved, 384-239. It increases the tax rate 4 percent. Darlene Johnson of East Pembroke polled 180 votes to win a five-year term on the School Board. William C. Wetzel, 153 votes; William Joyce, 102; Albert Platten, 87, and Diana Jennings, 76, were the other candidates.
Pembroke voters also approved the purchase of two buses, 423-168, and a $2,500 grant to the Corfu Free Library, 451-41.
