Robert J. Seufert Sr., 60, active with the Blasdell Volunteer Fire Department for more than 36 years, died Wednesday (June 27, 1990) in Mercy Hospital.
Seufert, a native of Blasdell, retired from Republic Steel Corp., where he was an electrical foreman, and then worked for a few years on the maintenance staff of Southtowns Catholic School in Lakeview.
During his years as a volunteer firefighter, he was president and chief of the Blasdell Fire Department and president of Blasdell's Exempt Firemen's Association.
Seufert was active with the Blasdell Democratic Committee for many years and was vice president of the Maples Sportsmen's Club.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Rayburg; three sons, Robert J. Jr. of Blasdell, Richard of West Seneca and Ronald; three daughters, Colleen Lelito and Kathy, both of Blasdell, and Patricia Paul of Orchard Park; two brothers, Donald and Richard; five sisters, Mary Ann Najuch and Karen Felser, both of Hamburg, Jean Parent of Lackawanna, Dorothy Gullo and Barbara Marzalek, and seven grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 9 a.m. Saturday in the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home, 3748 South Park Ave., Blasdell, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Our Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 3680 South Park Ave., Blasdell. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
