RESIDENTS CONTINUE EFFORT TO BEAUTIFY BAILEY AREA

The Friends of Bailey, a growing Kensington-Bailey residents' group, will meet Saturday at 10 a.m. on Bailey Avenue and Berkshire Street -- to maintain flowers in planters on Bailey between Kensington and Stockbridge avenues.

The group was formed last year to beautify and care for the planters -- and "to show business members on Bailey that people in Kensington-Bailey do care about them and our neighborhood," said spokesman Ronald I. Katz.

"Maintaining the planters is a key," added Katz whose group, which planted this summer's flowers in April, May and early June, was formed with six members and now has eight. Their beautification effort is also being supported by the Bailey-Amherst District Management Association and Forbach's Flower Shop.

The Friends of Bailey is also asking people of the area to beautify the fronts of their homes and businesses.
