FALLS MAN IS SENTENCED IN MEAT-CLEAVER ATTACK

A Niagara Falls man convicted in a meat-cleaver attack on a neighbor was sentenced Wednesday to 2 1/3 to seven years in prison by Niagara County Judge Charles J. Hannigan.

Curtis Griggs, 33, whose former address was 1857 Ontario Ave., was convicted by a jury May 30 of second-degree assault in an attack on Edward Smith Jr. of 1861 Ontario Ave. last Dec. 29.

In a separate sentencing, Robby L. Ellnor, 22, of 30 John St., Lockport, was ordered to serve six months in the county jail.

He pleaded guilty to attempted third-degree burglary stemming from a Feb. 19 break-in at a barn on Lake Road, Newfane.
