DUNKIRK SCHOOL BUDGET TO HIKE CITY TAX RATE $2.77

The School Board has adopted a budget of $17,594,865 which carries estimated tax increases of $2.77 per $1,000 of assessed valuation in the city, $2.65 in the Town of Dunkirk and $2.73 in Sheridan.

The board also extended Superintendent Terry Wolfenden's contract to June 30, 1994. Her salary for next year was increased by 7 percent to $75,850. Joseph Carrus of Main Street vigorously objected to that salary during the public portion of the meeting.

In other personnel matters, the board approved adding State Excellence in Teaching funds to the salary schedule for the Dunkirk Teachers
Association.

The board approved purchasing the Rosing Building at 88-92 E. Fourth St. for $135,000. The board has been renting it for use as the Adult Learning Center.

The board also approved a $1 million bond issue to fund major repairs at Schools Three, Four, Five and Six.
