MAN VICTIM IN E. SIDE SHOOTING; SUSPECT REPORTEDLY WOUNDS SELF

A man was shot, apparently while sitting in the front seat of a car, at Humboldt Parkway near Kensington Avenue early this afternoon, police said.

The victim, listed in critical condition in surgery at Sisters Hospital, was identified by police as Mahamed Dhali, 59. His address was not available.

Hours later, police received a report that the man they were seeking as a suspect had shot himself on railroad tracks near 185 Kensington Ave. Details of the reported second shooting were not immediately available.

Police Capt. Michael Gasper of Precinct 16 said it appeared that Dhali was shot twice while in a car in front of Shaibi's Delicatessen at 224 Kensington. Gregory Simonian, assistant chief of detectives for the Buffalo police, said the victim and the man who shot him had reportedly been quarreling for the past several days. Gasper said indications are that the argument was over money.
