LOCKPORT BOY, 4, KILLED WHILE RIDING BICYCLE

A 4-year-old boy hit by an ice cream truck at about 1 p.m. Tuesday died an hour later in Lockport Memorial Hospital.

The boy, Ryan Gugliuzza of 6621 Parkwood Drive, crossed in front of the truck while riding his bicycle at Royal Parkway South and Lucy Lane, according to Sheriff's Deputy Scott Elliott.

"The ice cream truck operator was pulling away from a group of children at the intersection," Elliott said.

The truck driver, William G. Wessner, 56, of 165 Rounds Ave., Buffalo, was given City Court appearance tickets. He was charged with failure to use due care and failure to signal, deputies said.
