The LDC Construction Co. of 1022 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island has been cited by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration for five alleged violations of safety standards.
OSHA officials have proposed fines against the firm totaling $15,480.
OSHA says LDC failed to properly shore up a sanitary sewer ditch or require workers to wear hardhats or protective glasses. It is also charged with failing to properly store containers of gasoline at a job site and failing to use a proper access ladder.
Richard J. Bradley, OSHA area director, said the charges result from an inspection conducted March 1 and 2 at a construction site at Mapleton and Shawnee roads in Sanborn.
The company has until July 5 to contest the citations.
