DRIVER DIES, MAN HURT AS CAR CHASED BY AMHERST POLICE CRASHES IN CITY

One man was killed and another was injured early this afternoon when a car being chased by Amherst police crashed in Buffalo.

Identification of the men was unavailable immediately.

Police said the driver of the pursued car was killed and the passenger was injured.

The chase started about 12:30 p.m. at Main and Kensington in Snyder, Buffalo police said.

"It started out as a larceny," a Buffalo officer at the scene said, when a VCR was taken from a repair store in Clarence.

The car hit an unattended parked car, and the driver was thrown from the vehicle and against a stone column at the entrance of Capen Boulevard on Main Street. His car then pinned him against the column.
