Sorrento Express Co. Inc., 2001 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga, has appointed James Baker vice president and general manager. Prior joining the company in 1985, Baker was employed by Cliff Staff Transportation Co. Inc. of Dunkirk. He lives in Springville.

The Buffalo Paint & Coatings Association has elected John D. Meyers of Meyers Chemicals Inc. president.

Other officers are: vice president, Joseph Romanelli; treasurer, Michael Burns, and secretary, Marko Markoff.

The Buffalo/Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives Inc. has chosen Robert E. Nesslin as its president. He is a partner of Video Resources Associates. Other officers are: executive vice president, Philip L. Wiggle; vice president of operations, Lisa M. Taravella; vice president of education, William M. Wind; vice president of program development, Peter F. Beyette; vice president of special affairs, Russell M. Papia, and secretary, Bill Shepard.

Also Anthony M. D'Auria, Lee M. Grunert, Gregory D. Mazurowski, Thomas F. Stapleton and Lisa A. Wishman were named directors.

ACI Controls Inc., 295 Main St., has appointed John J. Barden vice president of marketing. He had been director of sales. Barden is a graduate of Niagara University and currently is working toward his MBA degree. He lives in Eggertsville.

Yorkville Federal Savings and Loan Association in New York has elected Paul M. Edgette chairman and chief executive officer. He formerly served as a counselor to the director of the Office of Thrift Supervision in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Edgette was executive vice president, director of corporate development and general counsel for Empire Federal Savings Bank in Buffalo. He also previously served as a partner in the local law firm of Moot & Sprague. Edgette is a graduate of Niagara University and the University at Buffalo Law School. He lives in Williamsville.

St. Joe Paper Co., a land development and forest products company in Jacksonville, Fla., has named Robert J. A. Irwin of Buffalo a director. He is president and chief executive officer of the Niagara Share Corp., a publicly held registered investment company.

The General Motors Corp. has appointed Peter J. Peterson director of its Media Relations Office in Chicago. A GM employee since 1963, he formerly handled public relations in Buffalo and most recently in New York City.
