APPLE CROP HAS SUFFERED SOME DAMAGE FROM STORM

The apple crop in Wayne County and possibly other areas of Western New York was damaged by hail last Thursday, according to Kenneth Pollard, secretary of the Western New York Apple Growers.

"We know there was damage to what we believe is an average-sized apple crop, but I have no way of knowing how much," Pollard said.

Pollard estimated the June 21 damage was not as severe as the wind and hail storm last October that blew down trees and large volumes of apples in Niagara and Orleans counties.
