When U.S. Rep. Bill Paxon announced his candidacy for re-election, he denied ever accepting funds from pro-Israel political action committees. According to the Federal Election Commission, however, he has received $8,550 so far from that source.
Who is telling the truth?
To his credit, Paxon did acknowledge accepting a 10-day free trip to Israel paid for by the Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo, but he has not adequately explained his rationale for doing so. It is hoped that the political action committee money and the free trip are not related to his unquestioning pro-Israel stance in Congress. But it would be reassuring to hear a categorical denial from the congressman himself.
