Mike Madigan pitched a three-hitter and struck out 13 as Hamburg, rallying for two runs in the eighth inning, defeated Orchard Park, 4-3, in an American Legion baseball game Monday at Hamburg's Howe Field.
Brian Hennessy tripled to lead off the eighth. After two walks, Mike Hirsch's fielder's choice grounder scored the tying and winning runs for Hamburg (4-4). OP is 6-2.
Chad Schlee of Tonawanda (4-3) pitched a two-hitter and struck out 14 in a 7-1 handcuffing of Lamm. Keith Frost and Brian Danahy each drove in two runs. . . . Bill Paladino and Scott Schreiner each had three hits, and Pat McMahon and A.J. Kopf each added two for South Buffalo (4-3) in a 7-6 win over Depew (1-7). Jim Gangloff and Joe Lacki homered for Depew. . . . Glab (3-3) defeated LaSalle, 8-2, as Chris Dukat pitched a six-hitter and struck out eight. Jeff Smith had four hits and Ricky Foit a three-run triple. . . . Kensington routed Lyndonville, 11-3, as Joe Rine hit a homer, double and single to drive in three runs. . . . Holley upset Troop I, 10-7, as Brian Frazier and Al Gibson each had three hits and three RBIs.
MUNY AAA: The Voyageurs rallied for five runs in the sixth to defeat the Cardinals, 11-8. Tim Conwell's RBI single tied it and Dave Rosenhahn's two-run double featured the rally. Billy Scherrer (5-0) picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings of relief. Steve Stepniak went 3 for 3 for the Voyageurs (13-1).
