SHOPPING CENTER OPENS IN THE OLD FIRST WARD

A new, $1.5 million neighborhood shopping center in the Old First Ward opened today.

St. Brigid's Square shopping plaza is at South Park Avenue and Louisiana Street. Its stores include a Rite Aid Pharmacy, WinMart Convenience Store, a coin-operated laundry and a Family Dollar Variety Store.

Mayor Griffin presided at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 17,076-square-foot plaza was developed by Carl Paladino, Joseph Jacobi, John Rozanski, Raymond Rozanski and Frank Archer.

The shopping center is expected to serve residents of the Commodore Perry Housing Complex and other neighborhood residents. It was developed on a 1-acre site purchased from the Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency.
