A man injured in a diving accident at Fantasy Island Amusement Park on Grand Island remained in critical condition Sunday in Erie County Medical Center's intensive care unit.
Michael Murach, who is thought to be in his early 20s, has a fractured spine and other head and neck injuries, according to a hospital representative.
Murach is employed by Maxwell Associates of Miami, which was hired by Fantasy Island to perform diving exhibitions, said Tom Wages, Fantasy Island's general manager.
The divers perform skill diving exhibitions and comedy routines before a finale 80-foot high dive, he said.
Wages said Murach was performing on one of the park's lower diving boards "when he slipped."
