Services for Franklin B. Swett Sr., 56, who was active in veterans organizations in the Medina area, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
Burial will be in the veterans section of Boxwood Cemetery, Medina.
Swett, a retired diesel mechanic for Sea Land in Long Beach, Calif., died Saturday (June 23, 1990) in Veterans Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Sparta, Mich., Swett served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1957. He lived in Garden Grove, Calif., for 15 years and in Phoenix, Ariz., for five years. He moved to the Medina area six years ago.
He was a member of Post 1483, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Medina and Butts-Clark Post 204, American Legion, where he was serving as adjutant.
He was the current treasurer and a past commander of Leo Grabowski Memorial Chapter 202, Disabled American Veterans, and a member of the Turtle Club of Medina and Junior Wilson Sportsman's Club of Medina. He also belonged to R.A.T.S., a veterans group.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, the former Mercedes Blatt of Medina; four sons, John of California, Franklin B. Jr. of Phoenix; Daniel of Kansas and Gaylen of Westminster, Calif.; three daughters, Bridget Micetti of Reno, Ariz., Barbara Higgins and Tammy Irizarry, both of Rochester, and a sister, Meta Dunn of Medina.
