ELMA LIBRARY HOSTS EVENTS FOR CHILDREN

The Elma Public Library, 1860 Bowen Road, has several programs planned for children this summer.

Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to a summer preschool program 7 p.m. Mondays from July 2 to Aug. 13. A party with prizes will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 16.

An "Under the Big Top Read to Me Club" for children kindergarten age and younger begins today On their first visit to the library, children receive a reading chart of Rollo the clown and can come to the library once a week and list books they have read at home to get a sticker for the chart. Prizes will be given at the club party at 10 a.m. Aug. 16.

Children finishing grades one through five can participate in the "All Kinds of Animals: Vacation Reading Club," starting this week Children must read three books to have their names placed on the reading charts, and every three books read after that will earn them a star on the chart. Children are rewarded for reading 18 books. Special prizes will be given to the child in each grade who reads the most books. Book lists must be completed by Aug. 10. The club party is at 1 p.m. Aug. 16.

Children finishing grades six to eight can sign up this week to chart their summer reading courses. They spin the arrow on a reading wheel to determine what type of books they read and prizes will be awarded to those who read 15 books or more by Aug. 10.

Registration can be made by phone or at the desk.
