AMHERST TO HOLD HEARING ON EVANS ST. CONNECTOR

A public hearing is scheduled tonight on a controversial Williamsville connector street.

The session on the proposed Evans Street-Essjay Road was delayed two weeks because the village's Traffic and Safety Committee and Planning and Architectural Review Board had not received all pertinent information on the project from Ciminelli Development Co., Mayor Larry Brenton said. The hearing will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Amherst Town Board meeting.

Ciminelli has fought for three years for a secondary access road to its sprawling Centerpointe office and residential development southeast of the Sheridan Drive-Evans Street intersection. At present, the only roads to Centerpointe are from Sheridan Drive.

The Evans-Essjay alternative has met strong opposition from a homeowners group.
