Arson is suspected in a fire that destroyed a two-story, unused building at Mill and Center streets, fire officials said Saturday.

Firefighters summoned late Friday evening brought the blaze under control in about two hours as heavy smoke poured into the area.

Assistant Fire Chief Robert T. Symes listed James McDonough of West Main Street, Olcott, as the owner of the building, which formerly housed Sharkey's Tavern.

No injuries were reported, and the amount of damage was unknown.
