DID WOULD-BE RESCUERS DOOM KAYAKER?

With all the bashing of Jesse Sharp's attempt to conquer Niagara Falls in a kayak, did the media and others so quick to render judgment consider his professionalism as a kayaker and years of experience, his past attempt (aborted) in 1980 and the fact that he might not have been a candidate for suicide?

Isn't it possible that the do-gooders who attempted to foil his attempt at the last minute, may have, in fact, caused his death, since reducing the flow of water going over the Horseshoe Falls may have prevented him from accelerating to the speed needed to clear the cascading waterfall?

Surely, anyone waiting 10 years to try again to accomplish something of this magnitude would have tried to minimize any risk.
