Empire Soils Investigations Inc., a Hamburg-based environmental and geotechnical specialty services firm, has named Steven Goodreau to its geotechnical engineering group. He formerly worked for Messmore/Timmerman Services of Akron, Ohio. He is a graduate of the University of Akron.

Ivoclar North America, 175 Pineview Drive, Amherst, has promoted Brian F. Binnie to sales manager of its Williams Dental Canada division. He had been a technical sales representative for Western Canada. He will relocate to the Fort Erie, Ont. area.

The company also named Lee Culp a technical specialist in the research and development department. He lives in Amherst.

Key Bank of Western New York has elected John E. Garvey and Robynn A. McPartlan assistant vice presidents. Garvey is an operations manager II responsible for deposit accounting. He is a Hilbert College graduate and he lives in the Town of Tonawanda. Ms. McPartlan is a training and human resources generalist responsible for employee relations, compensation and salary administration and the management trainee program. She is a graduate of Lake Forest College and resident of Orchard Park.

Alfred University has named Dr. David Szczerbacki acting dean of its College of Business until a permanent replacement has been found for Dr. Lyndon E. Goodridge, who left Alfred to serve as dean of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. Szczerbacki, a professor of management, also will continue to serve as the J. Henry Smith Research Fellow for one more year. The position usually lasts for only two years.

The Western New York Regional Education Center for Economic Development has announced that its director, Jerald I. Wolfgang, received a "Special Achievement Recognition Award" from Congressman Bill Paxon at a recent industry/education training awards breakfast.

Elizabeth Arden has selected Eleanor D. Luthringer as an "Elizabeth Arden Dream Vacation Contest" winner. Ms. Luthringer is an Elizabeth Arden sales and beauty consultant at Adam Meldrum & Anderson's Eastern Hills Mall store. She lives in Williamsville.

The American Nephrology Nurses' Association has elected Peg Izzo of Buffalo as chairman of its Continuing Education Approval Board.
